Niranjan Ranade makes some good points, but the key to online sales is CONVERSION, and that comes down to what you say and how you present what you say on your website…

Also, it is no good trying to sell stuff to your list if you have not yet built a relationship based on trust, which comes from giving valuable information of the sort your subscribers are looking for – and you might have to educate them first about the sort of info they OUGHT to be looking for!

@Glass Beads In addition to the valid points made by Alan in response to your question, a blog is also a platform for you to talk to your affiliates, subscribers and network. Using a link from your email newsletter to your blog can work well in establishing or reinforcing your credibility (especially when your subscribers arrive on a page full of comments from other people engaging with what you have to say)…

@Glass Beads, Making money blogging consists of posting unique content on a regular basis, building a readership and then monetizing on the traffic your blog receives. You can do this through Adsense ads, selling ad spots, promoting affiliate programs, etc. There are many ways to go about it, but it does take a lot of time and effort.
