What a crazy few months. You’re probably wondering why I haven’t posted much, and well, there’s a good reason for that. Life! Yeah… life gets in the way. Funny how that happens. ;)

Seriously, though, I don’t like it at all, and I want to be posting more, and I promise I will be. I’ll still be having guest posts as well, but I want to have more of my own posts mixed in also. I think it’s only fair to you, my readers. That’s my promise to you, so you better hold me to it!

Okay, enough of that. Let’s take a look at last month’s blog posts. All four of them.

  1. Lack of focus
  2. Poorly investing money into programs that simply don’t work
  3. Not investing enough money back into my business

What are your three mistakes? Share them below by leaving a comment.

Online marketing is a good avenue for small businesses to do promotion.  It allows you to set aside a budget-friendly amount of money yet offers many options for you to market your products and services. By investing enough time and effort to make effective online marketing strategies, you’ll see how useful the internet is for your small business.

As a small business, creating your own TV or radio ad and using super-enlarged billboards on public places may not be realistic since these tend to be expensive. However, you can still reach a wider audience through the internet. This is the reason why online marketing is used by many businesses today. Online marketing can be done several ways. Here are tips on how you can do online promotions:

Smart Tips for Small Business Online Promotion

1. Optimize Your Site

An optimized page can rank well on search engines. To gain traffic and be found on search engines’ first pages for related search queries can require much optimization strategizing. One of the basic ways to optimize a site is by doing on-page optimization. Your pages’ link structures, keyword use, titles and content are important elements for on-page optimization. Study the basics about these SEO strategies and apply them to your entire site, and eventually you can go take on more sophisticated strategies like link building and site usability. This may all seem complicated at first, but even taking small steps in this direction could help a long way!

2. Use Social Media

One good thing about social media is that is it a very interactive medium where you can instantly reach and communicate with your target market. Many businesses use social media for promotion. It can keep your customers updated on any latest news from you. Customer engaging techniques like contests, product giveaways, and other promos can be done through social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and other community sites. Promotion for your website to gain traffic can also be done using social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon, Reddit, Digg and Mixx. Also, you can use social media to brand your business and increase the strength of its identity. There are also other available social media sites like YouTube where your video creation and promotion can possibly go viral.

3. Content Marketing

Content is king. Engaging content is the key to increase traffic to your website and gain more potential customers. Internet users today tend to look for sites that are useful and will give them the information they need. The quality of the information you produce can encourage visitors to stay longer in your site, trust your brand and recommend it to other people. An optimized page will be useless if people who visit them find the content unhelpful. It can even cause bounce rates to your site, or worse, give you a bad reputation. To make quality and appealing content, you need to inspire and make them want your product. The power of words is a strong marketing weapon that can influence a customer to move and make transactions.

4. Create Your Own Blog

Creating blogs can give you a lot of benefits. Aside from getting links from other people’s mentions of your posts and promoting your business website in general, it is also a medium for direct communication with your market. Blogs can be an avenue for you to brand your business, get connections, and participate in a community where you can gain more customers. By creating useful content, you can build a credible brand with authority. Using blogs also offers you the chance of building reputation through participating actively in the blogosphere, having product reviews and interacting in blogger community forums.

5. Mail Updates and Newsletters

Mailing lists are important so new blog posts and other updates from your website can be sent to your audience right away via email. There are many forms of mailing lists you can use for promotion and updates. For blogs, there are email subscriptions complementary to their usual RSS feeds where readers can also subscribe for post updates. Company websites typically use mailing lists to update their audiences about their latest promos. To convince them to participate, you can use audience-engaging techniques where your customers can be given exclusive benefits, giveaways and freebies like your branded calendars, postcards, or business cards. These are products that your subscribers can use frequently so they are often reminded about your brand at the same time.

Although the work might be very tedious, it’s all worth the time once you see the results of your efforts on marketing your product and business using the web. Internet marketing is important to communicate and deliver value to your customers while also finding ways on how your business can achieve your marketing goals though customer interaction. These strategies can be a good foundation and an important investment for your business promotions online.

Okay, let me have ‘em…

If I had read a review of Site Build It (SBI) 5 years ago back in 2005 before I started ReplaceYourSalary.com with my goal of making money online with affiliate marketing, and had I built my website using SBI, I wonder how differently things might have turned out. Not that I’m doing terrible now or anything, but who knows if my Internet Marketing journey could have been much smoother, faster or become more profitable faster?

This review is written not just to uncover some of the “what ifs” I could have missed over the years but more so to present aspiring online marketers and small business owners with what some people say is a revolutionary way of making money online.

What exactly is Site Build It (SBI)?

What Members Can Do and Expect from SBI After Joining

  1. Site Build It (SBI) was created and founded by Dr. Ken Envoy from Canada in 1997 and has helped hundreds of thousands of ordinary people build an online business that outperform many other more established competitors.
  2. It’s a comprehensive system that provides you a step-by-step solution using very powerful tools and marketing resources not just to build a website but to build a web business. Think of it as a mentor holding your hand in this site building program that covers the process, guidance and software to help you build a profitable Internet Marketing business.
  3. There are many tools that are available for members, some of which are ‘Preparation tools,’ ‘Building and Hosting tools,’ ‘Traffic Building tools’ and ‘Other tools.’
  4. There is a lot of behind-the-scene work that is done for your website including RSS and site submission to the major search engines, pinging and automatic Sitemap generation.
  5. Access to a private forum and 24 Hour SiteSell Support.
  6. Free domain name for each subscription (worth $10 per year).
  7. Free unlimited autoresponder (worth roughly $170 per year).
  8. SBI builds a static website, but they have a tool that lets you create a blog automatically, so every time you build a web page, just activating “Blog It” will create a blog post behind the scenes for you.
  9. SBI uses a proprietary Keyword Research Tool called ‘Brainstorm It’ – this is very similar to the popular and expensive keyword tool Keyword Elite created by Brad Callen.
  10. Free upgrade to “Content 2.0” which embraces the powerful web 2.0 to enhance visitors’ participation and contribution on your website which results in more traffic and better search engine ranking. Think of C2.0 as yielding the same power of Facebook, YouTube, Twitter – only on a smaller scale. Content 2.0 also focuses a lot more on the monetization aspect of your website to make it even more profitable.
  11. SBI uses video tutorials in the step-by-step instructions so that listening and viewing them make it very easy to follow in a 10-day process of building your website.
  12. SBI displays your site ranking with the major search engines like Google and shows the Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) of all relevant keywords belonging to your niche that you are ranking for.

Video Tour of SBI!

A video is worth a million words, so I wanted to just stop right here and share a video with you that will take you through a quick tour of Site Build It that may explain things a little better than what I can here.

And… before you continue reading, and if you have time, you may be interested in taking the complete SBI Video Tour, which I would recommend doing. Simply click here to take the tour now. The link will open in a new window so you can come back here after you’re done viewing.

Site Built It – Is it for You?

  1. SBI is not for you if you are looking for a get rich quick scheme.  SBI isn’t a springboard that helps you land on a pot of gold and your business runs on auto-pilot. There is still a lot of work that you must do to be successful in your web business including building quality content for your website to bring in the targeted traffic needed to generate sales. It does however help you accelerate your content-building to hundreds or thousands of pages to grow your website and make it a profitable business.
  2. After taking a close look at Site Build It, it does appear that this comprehensive all-in-one website builder is much favored by the complete Internet Marketing newbie. It’s perfect for those who have little computer knowledge, are less technical savvy and probably don’t know much about SEO or marketing in general. Everything is well laid out and structured, so there is very little room for mistakes if you follow the instructions carefully.
  3. I know some of you are thinking right now that you can easily build a website using WordPress, which is free. That’s true, and I thought the exact same thing. But, I then read why it’s better to use SBI vs. WordPress especially if you plan on making money from your blog. It’s an interesting read and certainly worth checking out. Sure makes me think a little about my future websites that I’ve been planning.
  4. The format of the step-by-step guide may be ideal for most new online marketers who aren’t familiar with the technical aspect of site building and layout, but these instructions can get a little overwhelming after a while for some. If this happens, the video tutorials ought to make things much clearer.
  5. SBI is great if you want to get started with affiliate marketing. As you know if you follow my blog, my business revolves around affiliate marketing to make the majority of my online income. I absolutely love it! Well, if you’re at all curious about becoming an affiliate, check out what Site Build It can do for you with its affiliate marketing business model.
  6. You may still not be sure if SBI will help you in your online business, so the 30-day money back guarantee lets you try out some of these tools and determine for yourself if it’s right for you.

How Much Does SBI Cost?

There are two payment options available: monthly and yearly.

You can pay $299 yearly OR $29.99 monthly with an option to switch to an annual payment so as to save $60 a year. Yearly seems to be the better option here. But, the monthly payment option is new and possibly could appeal to those who like what they see in SBI and want to treat this monthly payment as a cost of doing business, much like maintaining a web hosting account, which is what I do.

Is Site Build It Worth the Investment?

I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I had known about SBI when I started my online business. Looking back, I think $299 for a year is worth the investment as I know I’ve spent much more than that each year I’ve been “in business.”

It really is a small price to pay when you think about all the training, guidance, resources and tools that are available to you. That $299 can easily be earned back within your first year if you put in the hard work necessary to succeed with your online business.

I would recommend anyone looking to start a successful internet business take a close look at Site Build It and everything they have to offer. Afterall, you have a full 30 days to try it out and see if it’s for you or not. If not, no biggie, you haven’t lost anything except a month’s worth of time.

Test drive Site Build It (SBI) today and build a real internet business.

Things have been going pretty well. It’s been a busy week for me, and I’m looking forward to the weekend. I made my first ever hotel reservations online a few days ago (applause?) for my cousin’s wedding coming up next weekend. I’m pretty excited for the trip and to get away for a little.

That’s about all that’s going on with me as of late. Got anything exciting going on with you? Let me know by leaving a comment.

Every now and then I get the opportunity to help out with some web and blogging type stuff (editing/changing WordPress themes, etc.). I’m no longer doing any regular marketing work, but if the opportunity arises, I may consider.

Total = $45

Income from Proofreading/Re-writing/Editing Services

It’s an honor for me to be able to provide a high quality and much needed service, and it’s been an honor serving my clients. You can learn more by visiting the link below.

Total = $110

Income from Re-writing Service via David Hurley’s PLR Article Service Membership

It has been an honor to be able to partner with David, a good online friend of mine, and provide the re-writing portion of his article membership. To learn more about his PLR article service, visit the link above.

Total = $75

Total online income from all sources…

$614.71

Not too shabby.

Micro Niche Site Update

I also wanted to update you on the progress of my micro niche site. You may recall I started a new site just over a month ago, and I was working on getting it to the top of Google. During my previous income report, it was sitting at the #4 position.

Well… days later it reached #1, and it’s been there ever since. It wasn’t real hard actually, as all I really did was get 5 links from articles submitted to EzineArticles, social bookmarked the site and built about 30 high PR backlinks to it.

Ever since the site landed in the top spot, it’s been receiving Adsense clicks almost daily. For the most part, the clicks have earned very minimal amounts. However, today and yesterday have earned over $1 for a single click. I’m pretty excited about this and the outlook I have for the site. I plan to develop it further as time allows to bring in even more revenue from it. So far, it has brought in just under $5, so with the way things are looking, it should pay for itself just after two months.

I still plan on entering another niche once my micro niche site starts brings in more revenue as I find time to develop it. This niche site will focus on a single Clickbank product and create a funnel for visitors to get them to the order page.

That’s all for now. As always, feel free to leave your comments below…

If you want to learn affiliate marketing, then a real key to starting off the right way is building a squeeze page that converts. I understand that I have potentially just confused you with two terms you may not have heard, so let me explain…

A squeeze page is a page that’s whole intention is to capture email addresses. The point of this is to capture email addresses so that we as internet marketers can email offers and build relationships with those people who express an interest in what we sell.

The next term from that sentence that you need to understand is “conversion.” Now, conversion is the ratio at which people land on your squeeze page and submit their email address, to those that don’t. Obviously the aim of a squeeze page is to capture as many email addresses as possible to market to, so it is very important that it is converting at a good rate.

Now that we have that established, how do we create a converting opt-in as we learn affiliate marketing?

Let me start right from the beginning….

First, you are going to need to invest in a domain name. Now a domain name is your websites name, just like this websites name is ReplaceYourSalary.com. You can purchase a domain from a website called Namecheap.com and prices often range from $9 – $12.

Once you have bought a domain name, then you’ll need to invest in a hosting account. A hosting account is much like hiring a store in a mall. The internet is not free, so you need to hire space. Thankfully, hosting is dirt cheap to get and you’ll only be looking at around $3 – $12 per month. I tend to use Justhost.com for my hosting because they’re quick to respond and cheap.

Finally, you’re going to need to download what is called a “Free HTML Editor”. What a free HTML editor does is allows you to create nice looking squeeze pages and websites that you can then use to capture email addresses (which is the whole point of creating a squeeze page). I like to use the free HTML editor Kompozer. It’s easy to use and just makes sense.

If you would like to learn more about how you can use Kompozer to create killer squeeze pages you can download Sam’s free guide here.

Otherwise, if you would like to find out more about Sam Bakker, the author, and learn affiliate marketing, you can visit his website at SamBakker.com

The following is a guest post by Sam Bakker. If you would like to guest post on this blog, please contact me.

If you are new to internet marketing and would like to learn affiliate marketing it is important that you first understand that making money online is a skill and in order to learn that skill you need to learn the process first. Once you learn the process you can begin down a path similar to most successful internet marketers.

I got talking with a student of mine the other day; we got into a debate about what an affiliate marketer should do when they first start online. A little confused by our differing views, I had a good think about the cause of this debate and it soon became quite obvious why it had happened. It was because my student was recalling information from a previous system which he had learned from someone else, this system differed slightly from the system that was working for me and I was subsequently teaching him.

This debate really nailed in a point for me, there are several systems available to learn to get started in affiliate marketing however if someone who is new to the internet decides to conduct extended research over a number of different systems then it can really lead to a ton of confusion, overload and worst of all a sense of not knowing where to start. This confusion often leaves newcomers who want to learn affiliate marketing in the dark because the simply don’t know what’s right from what’s wrong and many end up waiting years before they take action.

So what is the key to your success as you start to learn affiliate marketing?

It’s quite simple really; learn a system you are comfortable with that you know you can be effective in. Once you have done that then the next thing that you need to do is find someone else who is effective using the system you have chosen. This is important because they can help you through the sticky points that will be to come as you implement the system. Once you have found someone successful to follow and you have decided on a system you will focus on, you then need to learn each part of the system in detail.

Learn the system until you have a complete understanding for what you need to do in order to succeed. Finally take focused, consistent action in order to reach your goal of making money as an affiliate marketer and do so as soon as possible.

If you are able to take in and understand what I have run over in this article then you will save yourself a lot of time and stress at the start of your internet marketing career and you will most importantly of all learn how to be an effective affiliate marketer.

If you know anything about me at all, you’ll know that I can’t stand hype. You’ll also know that if and when I promote an opportunity, there’s usually very good reason for doing so, and it’s because I truly believe in it and feel that you will benefit from it.

For the past month there’s been a lot of buzz regarding AshMax, and I honestly hadn’t heard about it until I got an email from someone wanting to pay to put up a banner on my site. I had then emailed him back and forth several times talking about AshMax and why it’s different than anything else out there.

Well… this guy (who will remain anonymous) is very close friends with Ash Mufareh, the creator of AshMax. He got in right from the start (it’s only been out just over a month) and is already seeing almost a $1,000 monthly income (not bad for only a month). He said I should take a look into it and at least take the free tour to see what it’s all about.

So I did…

I’m very skeptical when the “next best thing” comes out, and I don’t want to waste my time, and especially yours, reviewing something that will be a waste of time, and money. That’s not the case here. After reviewing AshMax extensively and learning as much as there is to know about it, I wanted to provide a full, detailed review.

My review will be as non-biased as possible, and I’ll leave out all the hype. I’ll leave it up to your discretion whether or not AshMax is the perfect work from home opportunity.

So what exactly is AshMax?

AshMax was created and founded by Ash Mufareh, the top Global Domains International (GDI) marketer in the United States. If you haven’t heard of the GDI opportunity before, they’re one of the oldest and most well-known multi-level marketing/networking marketing (MLM) companies on the internet, having started back in 1999.

Now I know what you’re probably thinking. “Not another MLM!” Yeah, there’s a lot of them, but GDI has stood the test of time and there’s a reason why they’re still very popular today. That reason is because they’re an honest company and have built a solid reputation for offering a great service along with one of the most popular opportunities online.

While I was taking my free tour of AshMax, I was quite blown away. It’s new and different and designed like no other program I’ve ever seen before. I was starting to realize why there has been so much buzz about it for the past month.

Here’s the basic gist…

Ash Mufareh is the top recruiter for GDI and wanted a way to leverage on the success of GDI and also FreewayToSuccess (FTS). Both are two well-established programs, are very successful, are familiar names to most online marketers and are 100% legal and certified by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). No scams here!

AshMax is simply a free system designed to help you build your downline in both companies in the most ingenious way I’ve ever seen.

How Does it work?

1. When you sign up for the free tour, you have 7 days to check AshMax out as well as learn more about GDI and FTS. There are complete guides and videos to walk you through everything. If you don’t complete steps 1 & 2  within the 7 days, you’ll be booted out of the system.

There’s a third step that requires referring 5 people to AshMax within 20 days. If this isn’t done, you’ll be booted out of the system as well.

Steps 1 & 2 involve signing up for GDI and FTS under your AshMax sponsor. That’s it and is very easy to do. Only takes a few, short minutes to complete.

AshMax in itself is not an affiliate program or MLM. It simply is a tool to help you build your downlines in GDI and FTS, by forcing the people you refer to AshMax to sign up under you and actually take action. Consider it a way to get GDI leads and FTS leads and have them actually do something. Those who don’t take action are purged out of the system. It’s an ingenious way to ensure the members are really serious about this business when they join.

2. There is a 5X5 matrix compensation plan, and all that’s required of you is to sign up 5 people. Of course, it would be in your best interest to sign up more than that, but 5 is the minimum requirement. This shouldn’t be too hard of a task if you know anything about internet marketing. If you don’t, I’m here to help.

What Are The Products?

GDI is a successful domain hosting company (.WS domains and others) that sells domain names and web hosting packages. FTS  gives you big discounts when you shop online for food, clothes and other consumer products.

GDI costs just $10 per month, and FTS costs just $15 per month, totaling a small $25 per month investment. Once you refer just 5 members, you pay nothing out of pocket.

Why Does AshMax Work So Well?

1. The system is designed to ensure that only the right members stay in this program, with each member playing an important role to help build up a team of successful members, both in GDI and FTS. Plus, AshMax is free to join.

2. The 5X5 matrix makes it a fair system because it limits the depth and the width of your team. You will most likely get some spillover (members referred by the people in your upline). This means you won’t have to work to get these members, but you should continually work to refer people yourself. In a filled matrix, you can expect to be paid $22,300 residual income. That’s monthly income. I’ve seen the compensation plan, and it makes sense. Take the free tour to see it for yourself.

3. Everybody in your team has a vested interest to see each other succeed. So, this means if you belong to a good team, you could find people ready to help you including getting you new members before your 20 days are up. That person can be me, and I’m already building a solid team.

4.  By integrating GDI and Freeway2Success into AshMax, it frees you from having to promote them individually, helping you achieve your goal much faster. The system is built in such a way to help you achieve this.

I’m not going to tell you that this is the perfect work from home opportunity. In fact, there is no such thing. Every opportunity is different, and there are many different avenues one can take to get to the same destination. Your success with any opportunity weighs heavily on your ability to learn and put into action the necessary steps.
