It’s been one heck of a month so far. I apologize for not posting as often, but I’ve been in the process of building a new, better computer to work from. You can see pictures of my build on Facebook. It then took me some time to install the major programs I use and need. All that work is finally done, so hopefully things can somewhat get back to normal again.

With that said, here is February’s Income Report.

Every month I do a detailed income report, showing you exactly where my income comes from. This gives you an idea of the various income streams that are available, as I strongly believe you shouldn’t place all of your eggs in one basket, as discussed in this post.

This is also a way for me to measure my success (or failure) from month-to-month. Each month will vary in income, and that’s all part of working from home as an affiliate marketer. This acts as a motivator for me to keep pushing forward to reach my goals.

I hope you find these income reports helpful and give you encouragement that it is possible to make money on the internet.

Let’s see how I did last month…

Income from ReplaceYourSalary.com

Total = $478.41

Income from Micro Niche Adsense Site

My micro niche site keeps improving each month. Google Adsense earnings for this month from the site totaled $10.01. This amount is included in my total Adsense income as reported above. I finally was able to add another page to my site, providing more related content for those searching for that topic. I believe adding more related pages will bring in more targeted visitors and produce more Adsense clicks. That’s the goal, anyway.

Total Online Income

Total online income from all sources comes to…

$478.41

Income from GetBackYourExAdvice.com

No income as of yet. I’ve been slowly building backlinks and adding more content to the site. Expect an update very soon regarding the site and what exactly I’m doing to market it.

December was by-far my best month to date. One of my goals last year was to reach $1,000 in income for a single month, and I finally did it. Now, the next goal is to do it consistently. I will be doing much less proofreading in the months ahead, so the bulk of that income will be gone. That means I’ll need to boost more income out of this site and try to get the ball rolling with my new niche site.

That’s my current plan.

As always, I welcome your comments below…

It seems like time is just flying by. Where are the months going? I need to try to slow down and enjoy each day, as I don’t get a chance to do so as often as I would like.

What about you?

Anyway, March is already here, so that means it’s time for another blog post roundup of last month’s posts.

Let’s take a look at them…

Blog Posts Around the Web

My good friend Dennis Edell asks an intriguing question regarding guest bloggers being responsible for their own SEO when submitting an article for possible inclusion on a blog. Since I allow guest posts on my blog, this is a subject worth taking the time to think about, as I never really did before.

David Leonhardt talks about Google’s new Chrome extension that allows users to block “evil” domains. This is a bit scary when you think about it. Hopefully not too many people use the Chrome browser, or know about this extension!

Patt Flynn provides some cool Facebook Page and Landing Page Codes and PSD files for those wanting to expand their brand onto the most popular social networking site. Definitely worth checking out.

Oni shares the benefits of guest blogging to grow your blog. I absolutely love guest blogging and encourage it here on my own blog. It’s a great way to gain new readership and become an authority in your field.

Daniel Scocco talks about Facebook comments on your blog. This can be a very powerful feature, as it shows comments left by Facebook users directly on your blog post. I have yet to utilize this tool, and I’m not sure yet if I will. What about you? Do you have Facebook comments on your blog?

That’s all for now. Stay tuned for more guest posts from some great authors! :)

I hope October treated you all well (and no pun intended there). October had it’s up and downs for me. The up being I had the opportunity to spend four days in Myrtle Beach, S.C. As you can tell by the picture (playin’ some mini golf) the weather was absolutely beautiful down there. I couldn’t have asked for nicer weather.

Did you do anything exciting this past month? I’d love to hear about it! So, let me know in the comments section!

Other Blog Posts from Around the Web

Now, if you recall I mentioned I’d be adding a new addition to the monthly roundups. The time has come, and I’m pleased to announce the blog posts that I’ve found written by fellow bloggers to be of value and inspiration to me. Check them out, and I hope you’ll feel the same way.

Rich from RichesCorner.com talks about the importance of keeping track of your blog and offers some tracking solutions that blog owners can utilize to do just that. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re not keeping track of your blog.

Tia from BizChickBlogs.com talks about protecting your RSS feed and suggests a really cool plug-in to do so. In fact, I now use this plug-in for my RSS feed as it allows you to add custom HTML to the end of your feed. You can add a copyright notice, links, pictures and whatever else you want to say to your readers.

Andrew from WeBuildYourBlog.com talks about time management and the realities of working from home and being your own boss. This is a must read if you work from home.

Ken from The Web Mechanic provides 10 WordPress security tips to keep your WordPress blog safe and secure from unwanted intruders. If you’re not taking all the necessary precautions to protect your blog, you’re leaving it open to hackers that could reek havoc on all your hard work. Don’t let that happen!

Onibalusi from YoungPrePro.com talks about facing criticism as a blogger. It doesn’t matter what you do in life, there will always be people who get satisfaction from putting you down and ridiculing you. It’s important to understand how to deal with people like this and also understand why they act this way. This post explains it all and is a must read.

That does it for last’s month’s roundup. I encourage you to not only read through my posts but also take extra time to read through these other blogger’s posts. They all do an excellent job with their blogs, and it’s been a pleasure following them. I hope you see the value that they provide just as I do.

I’m a HUGE fan of Facebook. Okay, perhaps I’m a bit too addicted to Facebook, but regardless, there is huge potential for bloggers to make a name for themselves with this social media giant.

With 50 million members and growing, users spend more time on Facebook than any other website, including Google! That is just crazy when you think about it. Google may still be the number one site when it comes to traffic, but Facebook definitely has the search engine giant beat when it comes to the amount of time people spend on the site.

As important Google is when it comes to driving natural, laser-targeted traffic to your site, Facebook certainly can’t be ignored either.

Are You on Facebook?

How many of you have a personal account on Facebook? Chances are most of you do; whether you’re keeping in touch with old friends, new friends, relatives or business associates.

I use Facebook for all of those reasons. As I admitted earlier, I’m quite addicted to it, and I imagine many of you are as well. This would explain why people spend more time on Facebook than Google. I don’t think Google quite has an addiction appeal… agreed? I mean, other than searching for stuff, what else is there to do on Google? I think I made my point.

However, when it comes to Facebook, there is so much more you can do on it. Aside from posting on your friends’ Walls, commenting on posts, pictures, videos and comments made by others, playing various games and such (something I never got into), this includes promoting your blog and bringing in new readers.

How Can You Market Your Blog on Facebook?

There are three ways that you can market your blog, website, business, service, and pretty much anything you want to on Facebook. However, I’m going to cover two methods that are completely free and don’t take much time at all to setup.

NetworkedBlogs

NetworkedBlogs is just what the name implies. It’s basically a network of blogs that people can follow directly on Facebook thanks to their fancy App. As a blog owner, you can submit your blog for inclusion in the network. What this does is allow other people to follow your blog; they can Vote, “Like” and comment on your posts, rate your blog, etc.

Another nifty feature is the Auto-publishing setting. Whenever you publish a new post on your blog, you can have NetworkedBlogs automatically post an excerpt of that post to your personal Facebook profile or even to your Facebook Page, or both.

I’m sure you’ve noticed a neat little widget on the sidebar of this blog, as shown in the picture. This makes it easy for your readers to follow your blog while they’re already on it, as long as they’re signed in to Facebook. This is cool because now whenever your readers are on Facebook and you publish a new post, the post will show up on their News Feed, which they can click on it from there, rather than having to click over to your blog. It saves them time and is more convenient.

Facebook Pages

Pages (previously known as Fan Pages) can be used to promote virtually anything; yourself, your site/blog, an organization, cause, service, product, etc. They are a great way to build your brand and get exposure for whatever it is you’re promoting.

As you may notice, I’m promoting my home page, which is not my blog. I do this for branding purposes, but if your blog IS your home page then this will work just as well to help you brand your blog.

One thing I do is make use of the Static FBML App that creates a tab that you can direct first-time visitors to. What really sets this App apart is that you can insert your own HTML, which will then convert that into an actual page on your Page. It also creates a new tab which you can give whatever title you want. I chose to title it “Welcome!” As you can see in the screenshot below, I have a link to the home page of my site as well as a link to my blog on the Welcome! tab. This is what people will see when they first come to my Page.

Final Thoughts

Before I go, I want to leave you with a few additional tips to make both of these strategies more effective. When viewing your NetworkedBlogs profile or your Facebook Page, you have the opportunity to invite your friends to follow your blog or “Like” your Page. I strongly suggest using this feature!

Now, I know this can be seen as spam to some people, so I also suggest adding a personal note in your invite to make it more personal.

One final tip…

Make use of the RSS settings Facebook provides to import Twitter and other RSS feeds you may have to promote your blog, business and whatever else you want to share with your friends.

If you’re not yet using NetworkedBlogs or have a Facebook Page setup, you’re missing out on potential traffic, readers, and sales. Both are free and don’t take a whole lot of time to setup.

Remember to add people that you think would be interested in reading your blog, and then invite them to follow your blog and “Like” your Page.

And on that note, I invite you to follow me on Facebook as well if you’re not yet doing so:

Thanks for all your support, and I hope you’ll put these Facebook marketing tips to good use for your blog and business.

It’s no secret that Facebook is an excellent source to make money online. With over 400 million members, the money is there for the taking. Many online marketers have come out and said that Facebook fan pages are currently the best free way to make money on the site. This is because of their viral nature. In this article, I am going to discuss an effective technique for increasing fans on your page with the intention of taking it viral.

The first time I discovered Facebook’s viral nature, I was looking at my news feed. A friend of mine had joined a pretty funny group. I clicked into the page out of casual curiosity and found out that the page had only been running for the past 24 hours, but had managed to have over 100,000 people “Like” it. I refreshed the page to see how fast its rate growth was, each time I did, at least 100 new people had joined. Over the next week, more than 1.5 million people joined that page as fans gave the owner exposure to all of their news feeds when they placed a message on the fan page.

So how do we create this incredible viral effect? The first way is to gather enough members in a short space of time. The rule I like to use is that if you can get a fan page to 20,000 people within four days then the page will go viral.

The best way to get these first 20,000 friends is to use a method which I like to call the “Rapid Movement Method”. It consists of utilizing the fans of other pages in order to help build your fan page. Look for fan pages which have similar subjects to yours and about 100,000 fans already (we want these pages so that we can tap into their growth while it’s still happening). Some fan pages will have the contact details of the admin. But if they don’t, you will need to ask them to contact you using the “Discussion tab”. This option which the majority of Facebook fan pages have gives you the opportunity to get in touch with the owner by placing a quick comment asking the administrator to contact you. When they do, you have the chance to negotiate a price for the post. If you have got it right and your topic is one which could potentially go viral, then you can expect your page to grow to a stage where you can use it to make money online.

I took the weekend off (3 day weekend) to celebrate Independence Day and enjoy being with family and friends. It was great to just put business aside and relax and enjoy myself. The fireworks show in State College at Beaver Stadium was amazing; one of the top ranked shows in the nation. It was a blast… no pun intended.

I took pictures throughout the show along with a 40 second video of the finale. If you would like to check them out, just add me as a friend on Facebook. Otherwise, one of the pictures I took is to the right.

As much fun as I had, it’s time to get back into the swing of things. June was a rather busy month, and I’m excited to see just how many posts I had last month. If you happened to miss any of them, you can find them below…

The following is a guest post by Sam Bakker…

I recall when I first started trying to use blogging to make money online. I had arrived at the entrance of a cyber metropolis armed with an idea and a daft look on my face. It was a multifaceted space teeming with online users, all I had to do was establish myself and I’d be crowded with customers in no time. I had bought a product that would teach me how to build a home-based business. It told me I should start a blog and begin sharing with the rest of the internet world how to be successful making money through a home-based business.

I opened an account with Blogger.com and put my hands to the keyboard. For two months I typed away, completing a design and posting content up on a daily basis. For all this effort, I had one member and no sign of traffic. My blog was floating around in an alleyway when I wanted it to be across the street from Facebook. I wasn’t making money and my website wasn’t going anywhere.

It wasn’t until a year later that I found out (and corrected) what I had done wrong. In this article today, I am going to discuss what mistakes I made in my first attempt to make money blogging online and how you can avoid them. By dodging these classic mistakes, your journey to success will help you obtain an internet marketing lifestyle that is greatly to your advantage.

Firstly, it must be said that before anything else, you must plan out what your blog’s central focus will be. As is the general nature of entrepreneurs, we get an idea and jump in head-first without planting a base for ourselves. Planning is essential especially when it comes to blogging; you not only need to identify your audience and the value you can offer them, but you also need to find effective keywords.

Keywords are the driving force behind a blog’s organic search engine traffic. You need to find the most effective ones using a tool such as “Google Adwords Keywords” to research. This will show you where you can get your search engine traffic from and what terms will be most profitable when it comes to making money. If you launch your blog without keywords in mind, often Google will struggle to place you in the index. Much of the time this means that your blog’s potential is capped very early on and your chance of getting decent traffic flow from Google is reduced. Be sure that you conduct the appropriate keyword research for your website before buying your domain name.

When you first launch your blog online, it feels great. However, now the challenge is in getting it seen. In order for search engines to rank your website based on targeted key terms, you will need to generate some external links back to your website. Use websites such as Ezine Articles, Squidoo and write for other websites in your niche to get your blog rising in the search engines and producing traffic.

Use these tips to ensure that your blog doesn’t end up like my first one, gathering dust along some forgotten nook in cyberspace. Instead, implement the techniques I have discussed with you here to get your blog off to an excellent start.
