How’s your summer going so far? Mine is going especially well. Been pretty busy with things, but I like being busy as long as it doesn’t include stress. There are a couple of things I’ll be updating you about in the next week or two, so be on the lookout for that. Exciting stuff, for sure.

If this is your first time to my blog, welcome! This post is pretty self-explanatory, and I hope you enjoy it and learn a few things about what I do and how you can make money online as well.

Every month I do a detailed income report, showing you exactly where my income comes from. This gives you an idea of the various income streams that are available, as I strongly believe you shouldn’t place all of your eggs in one basket, as discussed in this post.

This is also a way for me to measure my success (or failure) from month-to-month. Each month will vary in income, and that’s all part of working from home as an affiliate marketer. This acts as a motivator for me to keep pushing forward to reach my goals.

I hope you find these income reports helpful and give you encouragement that it is possible to make money on the internet.

Let’s see how I did last month…

Income from ReplaceYourSalary.com

Total = $231.25

Income from Proofreading/Re-writing/Editing Services

It’s an honor for me to be able to provide a high quality and much needed service, and it’s been an honor serving my clients. You can learn more by visiting the link below.

Total = $48

Income from My Micro Niche Adsense Site

My micro niche site keeps improving each month. Google Adsense earnings for this month from the site totaled $3.36. This amount is included in my total Adsense income as reported above. I finally was able to add another page to my site, providing more related content for those searching for that topic. I believe adding more related pages will bring in more targeted visitors and produce more Adsense clicks. That’s the goal, anyway.

Total Online Income

Total online income IS…

$279.25

Income from GetBackYourExAdvice.com

No income as of yet. I’ve been slowly building backlinks and adding more content to the site. Expect an update very soon regarding the site and what exactly I’m doing to market it.

December was by-far my best month to date. One of my goals last year was to reach $1,000 in income for a single month, and I finally did it. Now, the next goal is to do it consistently. I will be doing much less proofreading in the months ahead, so the bulk of that income will be gone. That means I’ll need to boost more income out of this site and try to get the ball rolling with my new niche site.

That’s my current plan.

As always, I welcome your comments below…

To start off 2010, I thought I’d do something a little different. I believe that humor can be a great antidote for whatever may be ailing you, whether it’s your health, family, personal finances or just your way of living.

Laughter is a powerful and healing force, so I encourage you to do it often. No matter what your circumstances, look to the good in what you have.

Since this is a Work From Home Blog, I rounded up some work from home cartoons I thought might strike a laugh. Let me know what you think…

I’ve decided to take down the images as I don’t want to infringe on any copyrights that may be associated with them. However, I can still post links to cartoons I’ve gathered across the web. So, here ya go…

The first one is from CartoonStock which contains quite a few funny work from home humor cartoons:

http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/w/working_from_home.asp

Here’s another site that has some pretty good cartoons:

http://www.wadenelson.com/workathome.html

Here’s a good one from Doug Savage:

http://www.savagechickens.com/2010/01/working-from-home.html

This one’s great for all of you who have a spouse:

I hope you enjoyed these and got a laugh out of them. Remember, smiling and laughter is very healthy.

Here’s to a healthy and prosperous 2010!

If you’re a blogger and/or affiliate marketer and you live in the United States, then you’re probably aware of the new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations that will go into affect December 1, 2009. That’s in less than 4 hours from now, by the way.

Here’s the official release of the new regulations on the FTC website: http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/10/endortest.shtm

I’m a blogger (obviously) and an affiliate marketer AND I live in the U.S., so I needed to listen up to these new changes and how they were going to effect how I do business.

When these new regulations first came out, there was a lot of confusion and not many people knew exactly what needed to be changed to be in compliance. I’ll be honest, I was very confused myself, and I still am, kind of. Maybe you were in the same boat, or still am. If you are, that’s good because I’m going to provide you with everything you need to know. Well, I’ll provide you with the links that will provide you with everything you need to know. ;)

I wanted to get the facts about what I needed to change, if anything, so I wouldn’t become non-compliant and get in trouble with the FTC. That would be a very bad thing. I want to avoid this at all cost because it can be costly if the FTC comes after you.

After reading Peter Lee’s blog post on the New FTC Guidelines, I was just left with a million questions because everything was left up in the air. There weren’t any definitive answers, and that wasn’t Peter’s fault by any means. No one was sure at that point.

After a couple weeks or so, I finally started getting answers. I found a couple of resources that I found very helpful in getting some concrete answers. The first resource is an interview that Jim Edwards did with Mr. Rich Cleland, Assistant Deputy at The Federal Trade Commission. I took the time to listen to the interview. It’s lengthy but worth every second of it.

Listening to this FTC Interview is a must if you want the facts about what these new regulations entail and how they’re going to affect you as a blogger and affiliate marketer.

Another great resource I found through Twitter is: http://www.clicknewz.com/?s=ftc

Here’s one more from Mike Young’s Internet Law blog: http://mikeyounglaw.com/wp/2009/10/16/testimonials-federal-trade-commission-ftc-websites/

These resources should give you the information you need to stay FTC compliant in your blogging, affiliate marketing or online business venture.

What do you think about the new FTC regulations? Do you agree with them? What do you like or not like about these new regulations? Share your thoughts below…

It is no secret that the vast majority of those who start a Internet home business become frustrated. It has been said that roughly 95% of affiliate marketers will either make no money or lose money and give up. However, there are many people who make a comfortable living from the Internet and a select few who make a fortune.

The vast majority of the people who are making money on the Internet, to include the so called gurus, are just regular people. They are not some kind of super geniuses, and many of them have struggled and been frustrated at some point with their own Internet home business. These ordinary people have succeeded with no special training, and if they can, so can you.

If the vast majority of the those who succeed with a Internet home business are just average people, then why are they so successful? The top colleges do not offer a major in affiliate marketing, and yet so many people are making money even in this current economy. What makes these people so successful while so many others fail?

The key difference is those who are successful with their affiliate marketing are focused and organized. It may seem pretty basic, but that is it. The tools needed to succeed are both plentiful and free for anyone with a computer. However, organizational skills and staying focused are skills that are not easily learned.

Many who join affiliate marketing or start a Internet home business have the misconception that there is little work to do and money will instantly come flowing in. Another segment of those who begin affiliate marketing realize there is work to do and then become overwhelmed trying every marketing method they come across and try every affiliate program they see. Eventually most become frustrated and blame Internet marketing as a whole and not their own lack of organization skills.

Those who are successful realized the importance of first understanding what it is they want to accomplish with their Internet home business and then made monthly goals to work towards. By understanding the what, it is now easier to focus on the how.

Rather than jump from program to program, the successful affiliate marketer will first focus on one or two affiliate marketing programs and then learn how to successfully market them.

Having a daily, weekly, and monthly list of what needs to be accomplished will help many to stay organized and to avoid distractions. It is easy to click that advertisement for the next chance to make money and lose your focus. The successful affiliate marketer knows this and focuses on the daily task and the long term goal.

It is not rocket science to be successful with your Internet home business, it just takes organization skills and staying focused on your daily and long term goals.

Does this story sound familiar? Are you over 40 and out of work? Don’t know what to do next?

Just a few years ago I took the some say crazy decision to leave the corporate world and set up my own business. I climbed the ladder through the organization and was earning a big salary plus the usual benefits such as car allowance, health insurance and pension. The company had set up a franchised operation and like many people, I’d often wondered about being my own boss and running my own company. This seemed like the perfect chance, a business out of a box so to speak. I was sure I’d never get another chance like this again so I decided to go for it.

For three years the business boomed and I have to say that had things continued as they were set up from the start, I’d still be doing it today. Problem was though, that as a franchisee, the franchiser called too many of the shots and wasn’t long before the revenues started to reduce as a result of commission cuts. It was around this time that the opportunity to sell the business presented itself and so that’s what I did.

This left me with some money to reinvest but it certainly wasn’t enough to retire on so I got involved in a consultancy organization but ended up losing a small fortune. I won’t bore you with the details, but as a result I found myself back on the job market and was fortunate enough to land myself a management position in a small family run business. Fast forward to 2008 and crunch, the business could no longer afford me and here I was over 40 years old, out of work and wondering what am I going to do next.

If you’re over 40 and unemployed, no matter how skilled you are, finding employment is going to be very tough indeed. Despite legislation, potential employers will think that you’re too expensive, too old and lacking in the drive that perhaps you had 15 years before.

Like many of you reading this, I looked to the internet in an effort to try and find a new opportunity. One where I could work from home and not have to outlay loads of money to get some kind of return. There are a huge number of make money online schemes out there and as I dabbled with affiliate marketing in the past I was sure I could sort the wheat from the chaff and find a program that could help me become a successful affiliate marketer. You can have a look here at some of the programs that I considered as someone over 40 unemployed and looking to make money online.

I signed up with Wealthy Affiliate University after a great deal of research and have found that the resources, tutorials and research tools are everything you need to get started as a budding internet marketer. Find out more if you’re over 40 and out of work here. Good luck and I hope it works for you!

Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn extra money online. You don’t need your own product or service and there is no initial out of pocket cost.

Now, as the subject suggests, you can make some quick money with affiliate marketing. I didn’t say it would be easy, but the fact is that you can get started right now. Setup a few campaigns and advertisements, write a few articles, and wait for the money to come in.

Sounds easy enough… right? Well, yes and no. First, you need to do some research on what niche you’re going to target. After you figure out the niche, you’ll want to find some affiliate products that you can start promoting.

The easiest way to get setup is to sign up for a free ClickBank account. ClickBank is the leader in digital products online. Product owners and affiliates alike flock to ClickBank to sell and promote any digital product you can think of.

This is the easiest way to get started making money as an affiliate on the internet. The hardest part will be learning how to market effectively as an affiliate. Make sure to do your research first. I suggest finding a mentor or a group of people that can help you get started in the right direction.
