Freelance writing provides a wonderful opportunity for people who want to work from home. However, building a successful freelance career is about more than getting the words on paper. Some of the most helpful skills a freelance writer can possess are not writing skills at all. These “other skills” are the skills that can set you apart from your competition and help you land more jobs. Here are 4 skills that will help keep those [...] Continue Reading…
If you were looking for last month’s roundup, you didn’t miss it. I’m skipping it this month as things were hectic. I apologize if you were looking forward to it, but there is an awesome Archives section which you can browse posts by month, so have at it.
One reason I’ve been busy is that I took a vacation this past weekend during the Labor Day holiday. I had the privilege of going to Rehoboth Beach, Delware with my girlfriend and some friends. We had a great time camping out and spending time on the beach. The weather was [...] Continue Reading…

The cost of health insurance is a deterrent for many people who would love to work from home. However, without it, the cost of medical treatment and hospitalization could spell financial ruin for many families. It is the single reason why at least one of the parents in a family looks for employment outside the home. The need has become compounded in recent years with the huge numbers of people who [...] Continue Reading…

If you’ve worked at home at any point in your life, then you are probably overly familiar with the your-friends-and-family-don’t-take-you-seriously phenomenon. It seems as though no matter how long I worked from home, nor how much money I made, my loved ones always thought I was somehow unemployed, a bum, and couldn’t be taken seriously. Of course, working from home and earning a comfortable income is still a rarity, but it is such a rarity that [...] Continue Reading…

Many of us are turning to starting, running and owning our own small business. This is a general trend here in Australia as more and more long-term full employment opportunities decrease and with the easy nature of Australian small business taxation laws. Just about everyone that I know is earning their own money and long gone are the days where we were all full-time employed. The business has a place in the community, most people are aware of its presence and its activities and there is a certain image and reputation this business must uphold for the people of that community to continue to support that business. Public Relations (PR) is just as important to a small business as it is to a celebrity. How wonderful then, that the return on PR investments is among the best in the marketing business.
Many Kinds of Marketing
When owning or [...] Continue Reading…
I’ve had the opportunity to be a beta tester for the Google+ project. For those who don’t know, Google+ is Google’s attempt at a social networking site, similar to Facebook. Google+ wasn’t always available to the general public as you had to be invited to join, but now, anyone can join by signing in to their Google account.
My Thoughts About Google+
I’ve been a member for about a month now, and so far, I’m not really impressed. I’ve seen a lot of people, mainly marketers, just raving about it and the “benefits” of using it to market your online business. [...] Continue Reading…

With today’s media, we can’t help but to see millionaires and billionaires all over the place. They show the actors, the football players, even Warren Buffet gets some TV time. The media highlights their lavish lives, and all we can do is envy it.
Watching things unfold, it appears the rich will continue to get richer and we are stuck to fend for ourselves. Since you are reading this [...] Continue Reading…
Every month I do a detailed income report, showing you exactly where my income comes from. This gives you an idea of the various income streams that are available, as I strongly believe you shouldn’t place all of your eggs in one basket, as discussed in this post.
This is also a way for me to measure my success (or failure) from month-to-month. Each month will vary in income, and that’s all part of working [...] Continue Reading…
