That happens a lot. Most don’t care, and the problem I run into is there is no contact information to even get a hold of them.

The route I’m currently going is to file a copyright claim with the websites’ web hosts. This will result in either getting the content taken down or having the website completely removed.

I have had a number of geniune client comments copied from my site by other webmasters, who have then simply ignored my requests to remove the copied text!!

@No Xplode, That’s usually what happens. And, Google knows about these sites and aren’t going to rank their content higher than the original’s blog.

Agreed the original content is picked up with immediate effect when the blog has the authority…

@dave, Thanks for visiting and commenting. I, too, hate how lazy some people can be and don’t want to do anything for themselves. Luckily my blog has some authority, and Google indexes my new posts almost instantly.

I hate the laziness of content scrapers. The sad thing is there are many article services that will give them semi-original articles to post on their blog (like Unique Article Wizard) and all they have to do is hit the approve button in their wordpress panel. And if your blog has authority and is crawled by Google every minute then the original content will be picked up immediatly. .-= dave@home improvements´s last blog ..How To Fix a Leaking Faucet =-.

Thanks for your reply Alan. I was quite saddened by it and even felt sorry for him in a way. I bumped into him in the street not long after I made this discovery and confronted him with it. He went very red and said that I had embarrassed him and he could not write like I could, so I found myself moving the conversation on to other subject matters. I have known him for so long and am fond of him, so whilst I was not at all remotely happy about his actions I felt that I would rather have a friend than an enemy.

All this is certainly quite frustrating. Someone I once employed copied much of the design of my website, the chapters, layout and text, when they setup in business on their own. There were some sections where he had really only changed the colours and exchanged my name for his. Some people could really do better.
