If you know anything about me at all, you’ll know that I can’t stand hype. You’ll also know that if and when I promote an opportunity, there’s usually very good reason for doing so, and it’s because I truly believe in it and feel that you will benefit from it.

For the past month there’s been a lot of buzz regarding AshMax, and I honestly hadn’t heard about it until I got an email from someone wanting to pay to put up a banner on my site. I had then emailed him back and forth several times talking about AshMax and why it’s different than anything else out there.

Well… this guy (who will remain anonymous) is very close friends with Ash Mufareh, the creator of AshMax. My review will be as non-biased as possible, and I’ll leave out all the hype. I’ll leave it up to your discretion whether or not AshMax is the perfect work from home opportunity.

So what exactly is AshMax?

AshMax was created and founded by Ash Mufareh, the top Global Domains International (GDI) marketer in the United States. If you haven’t heard of the GDI opportunity before, they’re one of the oldest and most well-known multi-level marketing/networking marketing (MLM) companies on the internet, having started back in 1999.

Now I know what you’re probably thinking. “Not another MLM!” Yeah, there’s a lot of them, but GDI has stood the test of time and there’s a reason why they’re still very popular today. That reason is because they’re an honest company and have built a solid reputation for offering a great service along with one of the most popular opportunities online.

While I was taking my free tour of AshMax, I was quite blown away. It’s new and different and designed like no other program I’ve ever seen before. I was starting to realize why there has been so much buzz about it for the past month.

Here’s the basic gist…

How Does it work?

1. When you sign up for the free tour, you have 7 days to check AshMax out as well as learn more about GDI and FTS. There are complete guides and videos to walk you through everything. If you don’t complete steps 1 & 2  within the 7 days, you’ll be booted out of the system.

There’s a third step that requires referring 5 people to AshMax within 20 days. If this isn’t done, you’ll be booted out of the system as well.

Steps 1 & 2 involve signing up for GDI and FTS under your AshMax sponsor. That’s it and is very easy to do. Only takes a few, short minutes to complete.

AshMax in itself is not an affiliate program or MLM. It simply is a tool to help you build your downlines in GDI and FTS, by forcing the people you refer to AshMax to sign up under you and actually take action. Consider it a way to get GDI leads and FTS leads and have them actually do something. Those who don’t take action are purged out of the system. It’s an ingenious way to ensure the members are really serious about this business when they join.

2. There is a 5X5 matrix compensation plan, and all that’s required of you is to sign up 5 people. Of course, it would be in your best interest to sign up more than that, but 5 is the minimum requirement. This shouldn’t be too hard of a task if you know anything about internet marketing. What Are The Products?

GDI is a successful domain hosting company (.WS domains and others) that sells domain names and web hosting packages. FTS  gives you big discounts when you shop online for food, clothes and other consumer products.

GDI costs just $10 per month, and FTS costs just $15 per month, totaling a small $25 per month investment. Once you refer just 5 members, you pay nothing out of pocket.

Why Does AshMax Work So Well?

The drawbacks of SFI

No matter what program or opportunity you look at, there’s always going to be drawbacks. That’s just a fact, and SFI is no different. This doesn’t mean that SFI can’t help you earn a part or full-time living on the internet, but there are some things you should be aware of.

• Becoming an EA is much easier and quicker by earning the required amount of VersaPoints (1,500) each month via TripleClicks credits. Going this route would cost you 19.90 per month to stay an active EA. It’s entirely up to you if you want to spend any money initially. You can earn these points without investing any money, so I suggest doing the necessary tasks first before spending your hard-earned money. In the future, you may want to do so as things will be slow going at first. Once you’re bringing in a steady stream of affiliates and building your team, earning the necessary 1,500 VP will be much easier.
• Many people are looking for get-rich-quick schemes. Since joining SFI is free, it attracts the types of people that don’t want to invest any time or money and expect to make it big over night. Don’t be surprised if you get bombarded with emails from your affiliates asking you why they’re not making any money. Then after explaining to them what they need to do, you’ll almost never see a single one take action. This shouldn’t discourage you, however. There are plenty of serious people ready to do what it takes – Focus on and help these people as much as possible.
• The training material available is very good, and I recommend you go through it. However, I suggest you do some research of your own in order to become an effective marketer and take your internet business to the next level. There are many resources and tools out there that SFI doesn’t cover or provide.
• It’s a fact that every affiliate who earns a full-time income from SFI has their own website. As a beginner, this isn’t necessary. But, if you’re serious about making SFI a profitable internet business, you’re going to want to invest in a website of your own at some point. Only you will know when the time is right, and you’re under no obligation to do so to earn a substantial amount of money from SFI.
• Not everyone makes money from SFI. Some don’t make a single penny. SFI isn’t full-proof by any means, but there’s not a single business opportunity out there that is.

Is SFI right for you?

This is isn’t your ordinary review. If it was, I’d tell you that SFI is the greatest thing on Earth and that you need to sign up right away. However, I’d be flat out lying. It’s a hard habit to break. I know it was for me. I went to a Chamber of Commerce Breakfast at Teddy Gentry’s (of the group Alabama) farm a few years ago and as I was introducing myself to people, I noticed myself saying “And.” This thought has stuck with me for all these years as I think about why some people succeed and some fail in Network Marketing. You can look at the success stories and figure out that almost anyone can succeed. There are people who were educated, high school dropouts, executives, factory workers, geniuses, and the not so smart. I even remember reading about a guy who was homeless on the street who succeeded and I’m sure you can find members of the same class of people who failed, so background isn’t the reason. It may be part of the reason but it isn’t the entire reason.

If you sprung up a business on Main Street, it’d be easy to say you own it. After all, chances are that it would be ALL you did. You’d give it 110% of your attention and your time. You’d more than likely be there 10-16 hours a day and think about it all the time until it became successful or you burned out. There are books out there that say you should quit your job so that you’d have no choice but to succeed in your company, but I can’t agree 100%. My belief is that it’s better to have the mindset that your business is #1 and your job is #2 (not including family and other important things).

If you’ve ever worked 2 jobs, you probably didn’t mention both of them when people asked so why mention your job now unless you are at work? Does that make sense? It’s nothing but a mindset, but it’ll make a world of difference in how you act inside and out. If you’re saying you work for XYZ Company and… you’re missing a great opportunity to have someone ask about your business. Would you rather have someone ask how he or she can get a job or have their own business? I know which would be best for you and the person who may be asking. If you’re in a reputable company that provides training and a way to make money, without costing an arm and a leg, and you are supporting your downline, they would be better off in your downline. What about your products? Would they help the person asking?

Would the products save them money? Would (your product) solve (enter problem here)? This isn’t the end all be all success key in network marketing, but it is a very important piece of the puzzle. If you do this, your bank account won’t explode overnight, but it will get you on the path to not having that job.

I personally believe we do a dis-service to the industry and ourselves if we openly state…or even allude…that NWM is easy. It’s not. Nor is any business…. work at home or brick & mortar. Anyone who does say different is not being wholly truthful. I find that to be a shame.

NWM requires 3 main ingredients….time, effort, and yes – money. Time is just a matter of redirecting your habits. Not easy but doable. Time directly impacts your efficiency. Effort is entirely controllable by the individual…. and directly impacts your effectiveness. Money is self limiting and directly affects both efficiency and effectiveness. An individual must find the best combination of the three that works for them. Someone else can’t tell you what that combination is….but can help you find it (for example a good sponsor).

The new mlmer faces a daunting task…and competition…when it comes to “advertising”. Finding that “best combination” of time, effort, and money is a growth experience. Rarely will it just appear… education (self and provided) plus mentoring (if available) are important factors and hopefully a fact of life. However, “advertising” is not impossible.

In my mind advertising is just whatever method you choose to “reach” people. It might be the traditional newspaper or ezine ad or the simple greeting and sharing with a friend. How you “advertise” or “share” can take many forms.

There are free and inexpensive methods that do work. It’s a matter of finding those that work for you.

For example:

1. Writing and submitting ezine articles is an excellent method. It requires time & effort…but no money. The benefits include increased link popularity for the url used in your sig box (important for search engine ranking), branding, and reach (you can “reach” more with an article than an ezine ad). Plus it’s viral. Often your article is archived by publishers and directories…..available well after it was originally offered. Plus publishers and web masters will often “pick up” your article…again well after you originally submitted it.

2. Business cards are always a good method…and more inexpensive than one realizes. You can even make your own. Just pass them out like candy….stores, church, ball games, local events, restaurants (leave 1 with your bill), businesses you frequent, networking meetings, local Chamber Of Commerce. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

3. Flyers, posters, post cards, brochures, etc. can also be done very inexpensively. You can make your own on your PC or purchase custom or ready made templates from numerous online providers. You could even strike up a joint venture with a local community provider. They print it for you and include their “advert” somewhere…you distribute. You both win, you pay less, and maybe influence that partner to be involved in your business.

4. Web decals on your vehicle(s) is another inexpensive method. I have one on each of our family cars (back window) with a short “catch line” and my url. Cost was ~ $40 each but the visibility is priceless.

5. Newspaper/magazine ads can be found that aren’t going to cost an arm and a leg. Local publications are a good place to start. http://nationwidenewspapers.com is an excellent source. For some of my services I’ve found College student newspapers and alumni magazines to be good performers.

These are just a few examples.

Of course there are the traditional ezine ads, leads programs, Forum participation (sig line – branding reputation), search engines, “3 foot rule”, etc. Most of these will cost you money…all will cost you time & effort.

The key I believe is in being creative and sticking to what best fits your time, effort, money combination. It is and should be a personal choice. If the dollar “cost” doesn’t give you the dollar “value” you hope for…. keep looking. But don’t EVER give up.

Plus… diversify. Use multiple methods. Why limit yourself to just “one path”?

Should we just sponsor those willing to waste $1,000′s on advertising? Heck no!! We should sponsor anyone interested and teach them how to advertise in a manner best suited for them. Don’t mislead them with false expectations or pressure them into uncomfortable actions. Lead them to solutions which best fit their expectations & abilities (time, effort, money).

Captures it pretty well I’d say. That’s the message. It’s not hard to understand…should/is fun…..but does take some effort.

Sending any message to prospects that denies effort is involved or necessary….misleads folks into becoming part of the “failed or quit” statistics.

It leads to false expectations.

They start to think they can sit on the couch with beer & potato chips watching Oprah on TV all day….and the money will roll in by itself.

Lays, Coronas, and Dr. Phil aren’t going to build your business.

YOU are.

In my mind (OK…my opinion)….that’s the core of any message they should receive.

If you really care…that’s what you’ll tell them.

MLM recruits are certainly not easy to find these days and closing the deal with one isn’t an easy task – particularly when your downline has the closing and you don’t.

Have you taught them all they needs to know to close the deal and to stave off the rejection? Have you taught them how to prepare themselves for one? Most of us don’t either, yet we depend on them to build the marketers that are providing for our market. How can we help them to expand their skills so they are able to close a deal that will benefit us both?

One method which works admirably well to teach each of the MLM recruits is the cross-over approach to marketing. Rather than applying the hard sell, which does tend to make people suspicious and might have them backing away with an eye to the nearest door; this method lets them effectively talk themselves into closing a deal with you and helping you in your own work from home business.

Let’s face it. Getting rid of the suspicions of a genuine skeptic isn’t an easy task either, which is what makes a close so challenging. Here is what happens in a cross-over.

The chosen recruit states “I think I like this method of selling. I’d be interested in learning more about the opportunity.” You reply “That’s really very surprising to me. Based on what we’ve talked about, I would have bet that you would not have any real interest in this business. Have I missed something somewhere?”

Rather than moving into the close and pushing gently toward it, you permitted the prospect to make the final decision and essentially at their own will. They are closing the deal for you rather than being pushed into something they have no interest in. You haven’t hit them with a hard sell and you haven’t compromised your principles. You have closed on an MLM recruit who may work a lot harder because they feel that the decision to become your downline was entirely their own. Help them along the way in their own home business as well. When you coach them, offer tips on how they might create leads for new recruits as well as how to close the deal with those currently interested.

No matter how you slice it, some deals just aren’t going to close. Teach your downlines how to deal with that possibility and how to be both gracious and professional when it happens. It will make you both look a lot better in the long run.

If there’s one thing you need in order to succeed with MLM/Network Marketing, it’s leads. Without leads, you’ll never make much money regardless of your company, the pay plan, your upline or anything else. You’re also going to need a lot of prospects since there’s no way you’ll sign everyone to be an agent. How many you’ll need depends on several factors such as your skill and your business. Not to mention, if you have a lot of leads, you won’t have to feel like you have to sign everyone.

It’s a lot easier to say no to having someone that doesn’t match what you’re looking for if you have 20-30 people waiting on your call. There are other factors involved in succeeding, but if you have leads and use them, that’s a big hurdle passed. Call everyone you know and ask for referrals. Tell them about the great business you have and how they can benefit from either being a customer or agent. If you’ve chosen wisely and believe in your company, you won’t see a problem with this. If you aren’t sure you have a great business, maybe you should keep looking.

A great way to decide if you have a good company is to ask yourself if you’d sign up your best friend or valued member of your family. Or, ask yourself if you’d use the product if there was no pay plan involved. If the answer is No, maybe you should keep looking. Build lead capture pages and get them listed high on search engines. This will generate leads that are interested in your company. However, anyone who has worked at getting a site listed high will tell you this is time consuming and far from easy, and it’s not an overnight job either.

You could spend a lot of time working on your site and never break the top 100. You can advertise your lead capture page on Pay Per Click (PPC) search engines. The largest sites are Google and Yahoo. These are the ads that show up at the top or on the right when you search. This is the quickest way and depending on the key words you’re bidding on could be cheap or very expensive (some keywords cost over 100 bucks) and there’s no guarantee you’ll get a single lead. It only guarantees that someone will see your page.

If you’re going to go this route, do yourself a favor and either get trained on how to do it or start slow or both. You can easily blow hundreds or thousands of dollars before you know it. You can print flyers and post them on bulletin boards around town and put them on doors and cars. If you figure a 1-2% success rate, you’ll get 1-2 leads per hundred flyers and then depending on your closing rate, you can figure out how many flyers you’ll need to hand out consistently to reach your goals.

Also figure in printing costs. Even if you’re printing these at home, you’ll have to pay for ink/toner and the wear and tear on your printer, not to mention the time and gas it takes to drive around and post the flyers. You should also get permission from property managers if you’re going to put them on doors or cars since some people will throw them on the ground. One other thing to be wary about is car alarms.

You can spam the world with one of those “e-mail 16 million people for 29.95″ spam messages you get every day. Do us both a favor and forget about that. The best you can hope for is to not get blacklisted or in trouble with the feds. The odds are that you’ll be visited by the feds and/or have your ISP shut you down. The way these are collected is by sending a little robot spider to crawl the web and collect e-mail addresses from forums, news groups, blogs, web sites and anywhere else they can find them.

These are just bad news and may get you kicked out of your company since they could be black listed because you didn’t follow this advice. An easy way to tell if they are real leads or harvested is the price. If they’re unbelievably cheap or don’t include i.p. address, they are probably harvested.

Cold Calling – This is just as it sounds. You pick up the phone book and start calling. This is the cheapest way to generate leads and if you have a thick skin may work for you. The thing to remember is that those people may be on the Do Not Call List and it may get you in trouble. The best thing to do is research the legal requirements before attempting this.

You can buy leads from a company that generates leads for you. But even these aren’t created equal. Some companies sell the same lead to 5, 10 or more people; even people in the same company as you and sell them for weeks, months or longer. You could end up with a lead that is 5 months old and been called by 10 or more people and is just plain tired of talking to people or has already joined a company and is quite happy with it.

Some are also overpriced and use shady tactics to get people to sign up such as contest sites. Or you could join a lead Co-Op that only sells the lead to you and generates it after you order meaning they are about 1-3 days old and only sold once. You want to make sure the company is reputable, been around for awhile and truly cares about their customers/members. They should offer multiple lead packages, training on how to effectively contact those leads, multiple autoresponders to make contacting them for follow-up (the fortune is in the follow-up) and training them easier and a presentation to explain what network marketing/MLM actually is in case the person has never heard of the concept or your company doesn’t offer a recruiting site.

It would also help if the company has a pay plan so that as you refer your new downline to the great leads you use, you can create an extra income stream (or at least get them for free) and so can your downline.

The thing to remember is that regardless of how the prospect was generated these people asked for information on starting a home based business and you should make it your responsibility to get them the information as soon as possible. Unless you didn’t take my advice and used a spam CD; then you’re on your own. Another thing to think about when choosing a method is will it be duplicatable to your downline and get consistent results? But that’s a subject covered in a previous article.
