I’ve never written any article and submitted to article directory before except EzineArticles. I just submitted few articles to EzineArticles and waited for approval. I’ll update you my result.
Between, you recommend Qassia, is that the best article directory among all of the listed here?

Lee

@Make Money Online, Hi Lee, thanks for stopping by. I would say EzineArticles is the best directory. With Qassia, they’re all for promoting your website. However, your article CAN’T be published anywhere else before you publish it there. That’s why I say to submit it there first, otherwise they’ll delete your account. You also earn income from the Adsense ads that show up on your articles. They’re becoming a popular site.

@Alan Mater,
I think not only we can’t publish all the articles in Qassia to anywhere else, EzineArticles is the same, I believe all of the Article Directories are the same as well. =)
Btw, I don’t understand why “I say to submit it there first, otherwise they’ll delete your account”? Do you mean that publish the article there first, then only publish in our blog?

Lee

@Make Money Online, No… the way Qassia works is that they only accept non-published articles, meaning the content has not been published anywhere else. After you submit your article, it then goes into a review phase where other members rate and review it. After 12 reviews, your article is live, and you’re free to publish it elsewhere.

They check to make sure that it’s not published anywhere else first and will delete your account if you violate the terms.

That’s why I say to submit your articles their first, otherwise you’d have to re-write them specifically for Qassia. That’s fine if you want to work twice as hard. ;)

Most article directories, including EzineArticles, don’t care about this. You can submit the same article to as many directories as you want without changing them.

You actually wrote “must be unique” for two of them…shouldn’t they always be unique?

@Dennis Edell, They don’t all have to be unique, but with Hubpages and Buzzle, it’s mandatory. That’s why I marked them as “must be unique.” It’s personal preference if you want ALL of your articles you submit to different directories to be unique, but they don’t have to be.

@Alan Mater, Unique as in written by you or unique as in not submitted elsewhere?

@Glass Beads, Article marketing is similar to blogging, but instead of posting your article just on your blog, you also submit it to article directories where it has the potential of being seen by thousands.

@Alan Mater, oh, now i understand. But does it still need to be like long article? or a bit shorter?

[Reply]

@Glass Beads, It really doesn’t matter. I recommend the article be at least 400 words long or more. A couple of article directories require 500 or more, but most require 250 or 300.

Hi Alan,

That’s a great list and there are some I’ve not heard of. I think article marketing is a good way to increase PR of your inside pages which should increase your main page PR too.Do you get traffic from old submissions?

@Affiliate Marketing Tips, Hey Peter! Yeah, I still get traffic from old submissions. I actually haven’t written or submitted any articles in a while now as I’ve been busy doing other things. The traffic still comes. Linking to internal pages is a good strategy.

Do you know of any good software that automatically or semi-automatically submit article to these and other top directories? Personally I don’t think article marketing is worth the effort of hand submission. I believe that time could be better spent on other pursuits.

@David@SEM Labs, Yes, you can get one here: http://www.replaceyoursalary.com/article-submitter.html. There’s a free and paid version. Another route you could take is outsourcing the submitting to someone else. You could find someone through GetAFreelancer or similar site.
