Having a Creative Mind to Succeed with Your Internet Business

I reflect back on my early childhood when I had a creative imagination. I sometimes wonder what happened to it now that I'm older. Maybe my mind is just creative in a different way than it once was.

I remember when I would take a folder and draw a monitor and keyboard on it, call it my laptop and take it everywhere with me. What an imagination! Unfortunately I still don't have a laptop... hmm I guess I'll have to make an imaginary one again. :)

As a kid I loved to make things. My creative mind was probably the source and reason behind this. I loved to draw too, something I haven't done for years and kind of miss. I remember creating a TV, VCR and desktop computer out of cardboard and paper. I would set them up in my room and pretend they actually worked.

Anyone else do this sort of thing growing up? I suppose it was also due to boredom over summer break. Either way, it required much imagination and creativity.

This same creativity is needed when it comes to your online business. You know the saying, "Don't reinvent the wheel." That saying is true, but the wheel can also be improved on.

If you follow what the successful people are doing and copy it, good chances are you will be successful as well. However, there comes a time when you need to stand out and do things DIFFERENTLY.

Having a creative mind is crucial when it comes to your online home business. Sometimes being different and standing out from the crowd is what gets you noticed... in a good way of course.

Try different techniques to market your product or service. Being different isn't always bad. Try to improve on what others are doing. It may just get you noticed. Use your imagination and creativity! You never know where it will take you. :)

How I Proofread Content - A Short Video Demo

I thought it would be cool to show you how I take content and proofread it with Microsoft Word. I like using the Track Changes feature so that you have the ability to see the corrections I make, instead of just seeing a "final copy." I think that is important because you will see where your mistakes were made and hopefully help you to not make them again.

Of course I will also send you a final copy as well so that you don't have to take the time to make the corrections yourself. This is for your benefit.

Video Tutorial - How to delete date and time stamps from your Blogger blog

This video shows how to delete the date and time stamps from all posts and comments.

Why would you want to do that? Watch the video to find out.

This is my first tutorial video, so I'm still learning ;)

P.S. Also shown is the line of code needed to change the Blog Backlink Control from "nofollow" to "dofollow" as I talked about in my Are You Using the No-Follow Tag on Your Blog? post.

Update:

The "rel="nofollow" tag can be deleted all together. In the video I just changed it to "follow," but I don't think it should be that way.

This is a touchy subject it seems. It's up to you whether you want your blog comment links to get any Google juice.

As for the date and time stamps, use your own discretion if you want to delete them or not. I feel it is better for your visitors NOT to see them.

Are you using the "nofollow" tag on your blog?

I was making some changes to my blog template and noticed a line of code about Comment Backlink Control.

As I'm sure you already know, but if you don't then pay close attention, back links are important for your page rank and search engine results. The more the better.

One way to utilize this fact is to comment on other people's blog, providing relevant content and letting the owner of the blog know that you enjoyed their post. The benefit, of course, is that you earn a back link for doing so. The webmaster benefits by getting more traffic and the satisfaction of knowing that someone liked what was posted.

But, a problem ensues when webmasters create a "nofollow" tag, preventing search engine spiders to index outbound links on their webpages. Not only is this dishonest and ruins trust for webmasters that employ this tactic, but it defeats the purpose of others commenting on your blog.

Unfortunately, Blogger appears to be autimatically setup so that spiders do not follow the links on the page.

The good news...

While looking over my template I came across the "nofollow" tag. Realizing this is a disservice for anyone that wants to comment on my blog, I changed the tag to "follow."

Now, anyone who comments my blog will have their back link spidered by the search engines.
